Heritage Speaker Series - The Avro Lancaster Featuring Keith R. Hyde, Aviation Historian. The Lancaster bomber was built under licence in Malton during World War II. It is famous for the Dam Busters Raid and many night raids over Germany.How was it constructed? What crew members were required?Was it built to last, or for a few missions? Keith Hyde trained in engineering technology at British Royal Air Force. He came to Canada to work for Douglas Aircraft, later taking contracts with De Havilland and Garrett Air Research.
