More Information: ‘CANVASFEST’ is a brand new, day-to-night event being held on Saturday, April2 nd , 2011 from 4pm-10pm , organized by internship students from Humber College, York University and University of Toronto Mississauga. The event will be heldat The Bradley House Museum in Mississauga, a local venue for artists and performers inthe area, to display their talent and gain recognition. The purpose of Canvasfest is unitingyoung people with the cultural heritage and services provided by the City ofMississauga’s Culture division , supported by The Friends of the Museum. ENJOY A FUN NIGHT OUT WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS, LISTEN TO MUSIC, WALK THROUGH OUR ARTGALLERY, GET A CARICATURE DRAWN AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL YOUNG ARTISTS. ADMISSION IS ONLY $5 AND THIS INCLUDES MORE THAN 10 PERFORMANCES. Canvasfest is targeted towards individuals between the ages of 18-25, but not limited to.Engaging visual artists, vocalists, musicians, comedians and more, Canvasfest will bring newlife to the history of the museums. Some of the performances include; Canadian Idol contestant Joel Martin and Selyne Maia, Arlene Paculan, Jenikz, and Rustic Fuzz .The visual artistsinclude; Megan Kee with paintings, Angel Card doing caricatures and sculptures, BreannRitchie with textile art and lots more. Food and refreshments will also be available on-site. To experience more of themuseum, we will have an open cooking fire outdoors with hotdogs and s’mores. This initiative will benefit Museums of Mississauga in raising awareness about its importantwork in preserving the historical sites of the city. All of the funds raised through this eventwith go to The Friends of the Museums in support of the Museums of Mississauga.
