Memorial Cup The Official Arrival of Memorial Cup to Mississauga s new Celebration Square, will take place on May 19th at 11:30 a.m. The event will include a re-dedication ceremony of the new Veteran s Memorial and tribute performance by Mississauga s Michael Ciufo. The Memorial Cup is one of the most prestigious and coveted trophies in North American sports. It has a rich tradition that has shaped the way junior hockey is played today. The trophy was originally known as the OHA Memorial Cup and was donated by the Ontario Hockey Association in March 1919, in remembrance of the many soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice for Canada in The First World War.
