Community Crime Awareness Day 2011

Community Crime Awareness Day The 11th Annual Community Crime Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Mississauga Celebration Square 300 City Centre Drive .It is organized by the Mississauga Chinese Business Association in partnership with Peel Regional Police, Rogers Television and Safe City Mississauga.Keeping Mississauga safe needs to be a joint initiative among our community leaders, our police services and the community at large.While Mississauga has been recognized as the safest city among Canada s nine largest cities every year for the past 10 years, we need your help to advise and inform local residents of the many programs and policing activities offered by Peel Regional Police, so together we can nurture an understanding of each other and build an awareness of safety within our communities and the entire region.Community Crime Awareness Day serves as a tool for citizens to come together and learn about community safety and policing issues in the region, emphasizing cohesion and municipal harmony.Community Crime Awareness Day is free to families and will feature demonstrations by a number of community safety partners including the Peel Regional Police s Tactical & Rescue Team.In addition, we will have lion dances, bag piper teams, folk dances, and tae kwon do and kung fu demonstrations.Free child identification kits, and games will be available for kids.Admission to the event is free and food samplings are also offered free of charge.There are free inflatable games for children, face painting, electric car rides as well as the Wheel of Fortune with gift items distributed; making the event a fun and educational day for all.RCMP, OPP, St. John s Ambulance organizations from different communities and business sponsors will have display booths.Lots of souvenirs and gift items will be distributed free of charge.Enjoy free food and giveaways.Last year s event attracted more than 10,000 people and we anticipate this year s event will attract an even greater audience!For more information please visit www.crimeawareness.ca or call 905 625-6222.
