We'll walk you through garden care and maintenance fundamentals for the Summer season like companion planting, interplanting, succession planting, crop rotation, maximizing the harvest, harvesting techniques, organic fertilizers and pest management techniques. Emphasis will be placed on organic, sustainable gardening techniques that respond to Mississauga's changing climate through the promotion of healthy soil, water conservation, and other low-impact gardening. This workshop will include a hands-on gardening activity involving organic fertilizers and natural pest control solutions so please dress appropriately. The Summer Season Garden Care and Maintenance Workshop is the second of our four-part Homegrown Mississauga Gardening Series. Subsequent sessions will take place throughout the year so keep an eye out for workshop dates in the fall and winter. Great for residents with limited or no gardening experience. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Walk-ins are welcome!
