Celebrate Chanukah

Celebrate Chanukah With Us The program features a grand menorah lighting, entertainment, crafts for the kids and traditional Chanukah foods including doughnuts and latkes potato pancakes . The emphasis is on bringing joy to others during the holiday season. This year, helping the needy is being taken to a whole new level; with the building of a CANorah.A CANorah is a Menorah built out of cans. The message of Chanukah is about overcoming challenges and bringing extra light into our surroundings. "In ancient times, our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place," says Rabbi Yitzchok Slavin, director of the Chabad Jewish Discovery Centre. "The CAN-orah is perfect. A menorah built with food cans is sure to add more light into our world." In addition to the kindling, the program will feature a juggling show, free gifts, live music, doughnuts and hot latkes, crafts for the kids and more. You CAN light up a life. The Can Food Menorah is being organized, built and donated by Chabad of Mississauga. We are asking the Mississauga community to participate by sponsoring canned food which will be used to assemble the CANorah. The cans will be donated to the Mississauga Food Bank after the event and others in need.In its Chanukah outreach campaign, the Chabad Jewish Discovery Center joins thousands of Chabad centres across the globe, which are staging similar public displays of the menorah and its symbolic lights. From Australia to Africa, Columbia to Hong Kong, New York City to the White House lawn, hundreds of thousands will experience the joy of Chanukah with Chabad.
