Multiculturalism Day 2012

Multiculturalism Day Celebrations - On November 13, 2002, the Government of Canada, by Royal Proclamation, designated June 27 of each year as Canadian Multiculturalism Day. Multicultural Community is ready to celebrate Canada’s Multiculturalism Day with fun filled activities for all ages. “As Canadians we are proud of our citizenship and we value the rights and freedoms of multiculturalism, said Zubair Choudhry, co-chair of Multicultural Celebration Committee of Ontario.” “Where as Multiculturalism is a sense of identity under different banners: as culture, religion, heritage, ethnicity within the frame work of Canada. The Government of Canada is committed to reaching out to Canadians and newcomers and is developing lasting relationships with ethnic and religious communities in Canada. It encourages these communities to participate fully in society by enhancing their level of economic, social, and cultural integration, Zubair added.” As noted by Eric Wen, the event organizer. “We are celebrating this event to symbolize the spirit of multiculturalism in celebration of Canada. “We have acquired a central location Square One Older Adult Centre at 100 City Centre Drive in Mississauga where cultural performances from Chinese, Indian, Pakistan, Tamil, and Philippines will be featured to show the glimpse of Canadian identity.
