Freedom of Mississauga Parade

Freedom of the City of Mississauga Parade Since the middle ages, local municipal leaders have demonstrated their trust and faith in their local military garrison by granting them the ""freedom of the city"". This involves the Mayor and the members of Council giving the local regiment permission to parade through the streets of the city with bayonets on their weapons and their regimental colours (ornate flags) flying free. Though seemingly aggressive, this is actually a symbolic sign of the bond between the regiment and the local citizenry. On September 20th, the Toronto Scottish Regiment will become the first ever regiment to be granted the honour of receiving the Freedom of the City of Mississauga. Contact Name: Major Graham J.
