Invasive Species Awareness Fair

Join us at the Invasive Species Awareness Fair where you'll meet environmental experts and some very special four-legged guests: a team of goats helping to clear invasive plants naturally! Residents will learn how to detect, report and protect Mississauga's green and natural spaces while enjoying free activities on-site, including: Informational booths hosted by local environmental organizations Guided Walks (45 min to 1 hr in length) at: 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. Native Plant Giveaway Prescribed goat grazing and interactive goat area Live music by artist Benji Crane Face painting Kids Programming (lawn games, activity book) Garlic mustard pull Free food for fair participants Meet & Greet with Forrest, our Forestry mascot! Mississauga is proud to be a leader in sustainability, as the first municipality in Ontario to use goats for natural invasive species management. As a reminder to those who want to interact with the goats, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recommends: Immunocompromised persons and infants under one should avoid touching any animals. Children under five should not come in contact with young ruminants (ex: goats) or their immediate environment.
